Summer of 86, German Democratic Republic. Daina (19) gets thrown out of university despite a perfect record, because her military brother escaped to West Germany. Now working as a waitress, she meets Dieter (19), a former classmate turned DJ.

Following Dieter, Daina discovers the Eastern European Techno scene and becomes a DJ herself in hopes of going West. Under the cover of performing in front of an audience, she actually wants to find her brother and understand the reasons behind his disappearance. 

But what was originally a means to an end turns into a passion, and when she's contacted by Stasi agents who want to make her a mole inside the Techno scene, she's torn between her new friends and her family.
